Operations System Admin

  • Collaborate with server administration, network security, production support, and database administration groups to ensure availability of corporate systems to meet business demands.
  • Administration of the corporate web servers (IIS, WAS, WPS, IBM HTTP Server).
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure proper Incident, Problem, Change and Release Management activities are performed.
  • Work Tickets assigned by Service Desk: Prioritize and respond as appropriate.
  • Escalating Operation issues; provide timely response to customer escalations.
  • Perform server backups and recovery procedures.
  • Plan and implement software upgrades, maintenance fixes, and patches.
  • Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports.
  • Ensure scheduled jobs are properly executed and manual job execution as needed.
  • Analyze day-to-day functions and processes of server and database resources to ensure they are performing within predetermined guidelines, limits, and specifications.
  • Identify system issues in order to maintain services, enhance capabilities and prevent system outages.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in production systems across the organization.
  • Recommend and execute modifications to systems environment in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
  • Develop maintenance schedules for system updates and upgrades.
  • Conduct research and remain current with the latest technologies and solutions in support of Operations efforts.
  • Execute and monitor scheduled production related tasks in the system(s) and resolve any questions or issues as needed to ensure accurate and timely results.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

  • Experience administering environments of Microsoft:
  • Windows Server 2008 and above.
  • SQL Server (Query construction, and basic administration), Integration Services and Analysis Services
  • Basic SharePoint knowledge.
  • IIS Server environments.
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with data management and controls.
  • Experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP, SNMP, WMI and other network or monitoring protocols and operating system configuration.
  • Knowledge of scripting code and scripting tools.
  • Datacenter Administration/Monitoring knowledge.
  • DevOps knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Disaster Recovery Procedures and Business Continuity.
  • Encryption knowledge.


  • BA or BS in the field of computer science or management information systems or a related discipline.
  • At least Five years' equivalent work experience in a technical analytical position.
  • Experience managing server environments.
  • Communication: bilingual (Spanish/English) verbal and written.
  • Customer Service: Ability to work with end users
  • Time management: priorities and accomplishing tasks in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software with system administration.
  • MS products: Office, Windows OS and SQL.
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
  • Team work Skills

  • ITIL foundations v3
  • VERITAS NetBackup Administration
  • Data Domain Administration
  • CA Administration: Spectrum, UIM, eHealth and Workload
  • IBM WAS/WPS and Sterling Administration
